UERGENS, MARY & ERIC ? Graveside services for Mary and Eric Juergens will be held at 11:00 am, Saturday, May 9, 2015 at Willow Glen Cemetery, Dryden, NY with Deacon George Kozak officiating.Mary J. Farina Juergens, age 77, was born June 24, 1934 in Westbury, NY and died October 27, 2011. Eric M. Juergens was born June 18, 1935 in Glen Cove, NY and died March 8, 2015. On December 12, 1959, in Wesbury, NY, they married and they moved to Freeville, NY in 1968.
Eric became a NYS Trooper in 1957. When called to duty by the US Army, he served for two years before returning to the Troopers. In 1968 Eric relocated his family to Freeville, NY and served in Troop C at the Varna Barracks until retiring as a Zone Sergeant in 1990. Previously he had been stationed in Saranac Lake. Mary was a loving homemaker, wife, mother and grandmother; and Eric was a wonderful husband, father and grandfather. Their son, Daniel Juergens died September, 20, 1988.
They are survived by their daughter and son in law, Jean and Joe Miller of Groton, NY; twin grandsons, Alex and Jack Miller of Groton, NY; Eric’s brothers, John (Jan) Juergens and Clyde (Barbara) Juergens; Mary’s sisters, Madeline Ferrara and Columbine Romuno; and several nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the Patient’s Fund, Groton Community Health Care Center, 120 Sykes Street, Groton, NY 13073. Perkins Funeral Home is assisting the family.
