Esther Zaldokas

ESTHER ZALDOKAS, age 83, of Newfield, NY died Sunday, February 25, 2007 at Deer Haven Adult Home, 179 Tupper Road, Newfield, NY. Esther was born October 26, 1923 in Ithaca, NY a daughter of the late Elias and Ada Muje Huhtanen. She attended Dryden High School and later lived in Newfield and Mecklenburg. She was a partner with her late husband, Ernald Zaldokas, owning and managing apartments. She was a member of the Peoples Baptist Church, the Home Bureau and enjoyed crafts.

Survivors include her daughter, Marilyn R. Kemp of Newfield and her sons, Edward (Katherine) Zaldokas of Burdett and David Zaldokas of Cortland; her siblings, George (Lee) Huhtanen of Newfield, Charles (Sylvia) Huhtanen of Spring Hill, FL and Lempi Parsons of Freeville; nine grandchildren, Rodney, Randy, Kelly, Dale, Edward Jr., Joseph, Melissa, Amanda and Megan; great-grandchildren, Matthew, Stephanie and Dakota; nieces, nephews and cousins. She was predeceased by her brothers, Wilho and Carl Huhtanen and her sisters, Elsie Huhtanen and Ina Hagin.

Funeral services will be held at 2 PM Wednesday, February 28, 2007 at the Perkins Funeral Home with Rev. Jonathan Burns officiating. Burial, delayed until spring, will be in Willow Glen Cemetery, Dryden. Friends are invited to call Wednesday from 1 to 2 PM at the funeral home, 55 West Main St., Dryden. Those wishing to remember Esther are asked to consider a memorial to the charity of one’s choice.
