EVA MAY COLE,
age 90, of 195 Cortland Rd., Dryden, NY died Tuesday, January 25, 2005 at home. Mrs. Cole was born August 9, 1914 at Willow Glen on Ferguson Rd., a daughter of the late H. Neil and Elma Metzgar Fitts. She was graduated from Dryden High School in January of 1934 and was married on March 5, 1934 to Marion F. Cole at Cortland, NY. Mr. Cole passed away January 26, 2003. She was a life member of The First Presbyterian Church of Dryden, a member of the Dryden Senior Citizens and a Charter Member of Unit 1134, Ladies Auxiliary of the Leonard T. Spaulding Post, American Legion. She was a former member of the Eight & Forty and had been an officer in the County Legion Auxiliary. Eva provided catering services to the Empire Livestock Auctions in many areas prior to her retirement in 1971 and was a well known community and church member. She was a dearly loved mother and grandmother who will be missed by family and friends.
Survivors include her daughters, Phyllis J. (Harold) Reese of McLean, NY, Helen L. Coffin of Huntersville, NC, Nancy E. (Edward) Couch of Freeville, NY, Mary Jane (Robert) Robinson of New Bern, NC and Patricia M. (Edward) French of Glens Falls, NY; sons, Donald C. (Lorraine) Cole of Marathon, NY & Summerfield, FL and John R. Cole of Dryden; twenty grandchildren; thirty-one great-grandchildren and two great great-granddaughters. Several nieces; nephews and cousins also survive. In addition to her husband she was predeceased by two brothers, Harold M. Fitts who died in 1998 and Earl C. "Howard" Fitts who died in 1975 and a grandson, Leslie Cole who died in 1962.
Funeral services will be at 3 PM Saturday, January 29, 2005 at the Perkins Funeral Home with Rev. David C. Robinson officiating. Burial, delayed until spring, will be in Willow Glen Cemetery, Dryden. Friends are invited to call from 1 to 3 PM Saturday at the funeral home, 55 West Main St., Dryden, NY. Friends who wish, may make memorials to The First Presbyterian Church of Dryden, P.O.
