EVERETT SWAN HALME,
age 91, formerly of Freeville, NY died Sunday, March 23, 2008 at the Cortland Regional Medical Center after a short illness. Everett was born February 18, 1917 in Monessen, PA a son of the late Karl Wilhelm Soderholm and Alexandra Souminen Soderholm both who had immigrated from Finland. One of seven children, he was adopted by August and Hulda Halme of Spencer, NY after his parents had died in 1919 and 1921. He was married to the former Irene Keturi on August 11, 1940 and was a long time resident of Etna and Freeville. Everett was a farmer and worked for Cornell University before being employed at Smith Corona, retiring after 25 years service. He also was a mail carrier and a professional musician. Everett was a kind and loving man who will be greatly missed by his family and friends.
Survivors include his children, Sylvia H. (John) Cicatelli, Carol H. (Richard) Nowalk, Steven (Jill) Halme, and Cynthia H. (Wayne) Moore; eleven grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren and three great great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his wife, Irene Halme; his son, Charles Halme; his siblings, Neil Soderholm, Albin Soderholm, Gus Soderholm, Leo Soderholm, Gertrude Soderholm Halme Sheheen, and Austrid Soderholm.
Memorial service will be at 11 AM, Wednesday, March 26 at the Perkins Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Willow Glen Cemetery, Dryden. Friends are invited to call from 7 to 9 PM Tuesday, March 25, 2008 at the Perkins Funeral Home, 55 West Main St., Dryden, NY. Willow Glen Cemetery, Dryden.
