Frances R. Sears

FRANCES R. SEARS, age 66, of 6797 County Rd. 129, Ovid, NY and formerly of Freeville, NY went to be with the Lord on Sunday, March 20, 2005 at Rochester General Hospital, Rochester, NY. Frances attended Dryden Schools and lived in the West Dryden area until relocating to the Ovid area in 1981. On February 20, 1955 she was married to Floyd W. Sears. Together and with family members, they traveled many miles and were well known as the Floyd Sears Family Gospel Singers. She was employed years ago at Ithacare in food service and later at Ithaca College dining services. For a short time she and Floyd owned their own restaurant. Fran loved cake making and having large family gatherings. Fran was instrumental in getting Floyd into the music recording business and with him cut seven country gospel music albums. In these last years their music ministry was mostly in care homes and rehabilitation facilities. Fran loved to be in church and was always encouraging others to worship the Lord. Recently they have made their winter home in Lakeland Florida. She was predeceased by her parents, Lewis and Genevieve Corgel Morse and a brother, James Morse.

Survivors include her husband of 50 years, Floyd of Ovid, NY and Lakeland, FL; her children, Michael (Sue) Sears of Etna; Barbara (Kevin) McKittrick of Interlaken, NY, Joseph (Kathryn) Sears of Spencer, NY, Timothy (Lynne) Sears of Freeville, Lisa (Albert) Hill of Moravia, NY, Ellie (Clinton) Wolfe of Shohola, PA; fourteen grandchildren, Sara (Clifford) Ostrander, Michael Sears, Jr., Marty Sears, Ivan and Rosalyn McKittrick, Jeana, Joey and Jaclyn Sears, Jennifer (John) Mann, Timothy Sears, Jr., Samuel Sears, Desiree’ and Kristylee Hill and Moriah Wolf; two great-grandchildren, Elijah and Arianna Mann; her siblings, Lewis (Linda) Morse of Aurora, Alfred Morse of Lakeland, FL, Thelma Ellis of Lakeland, FL, William (AnneMarie) Morse of Brooktondale, NY; a sister-in-law, Cheryl Morse of Ithaca; nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be at 10 AM Saturday, March 26, 2005 at the New Hope Bible Fellowship, Oak Hill Road, Moravia, NY. Friends are invited to call from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 PM Thursday and 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 PM Friday at the Perkins Funeral Home, 55 West Main St., Dryden, NY.
