Dr. FRANCIS JOSEPH DRAZEK, DVM, age 81, of 19 Kimberly Drive, Dryden, NY died Friday, January 26th, 2007 at the Beech Tree Care Center, Ithaca, NY after a lengthy illness. Frank was born December 18, 1925 at Amsterdam, NY a son of the late Joseph and Magadelena Lyczko Drazek. On August 11, 1947 Frank was married to the former Lorraine Rumph on the Cornell Campus at St. Mary’s Chapel, Newman House, Ithaca, NY. After graduating from Cornell University, College of Veterinary Medicine in 1947 he set up practice in Earlville, NY where he was also Mayor for 21 years. In 1968 he became employed by the NYS Dept. Agriculture &

Markets eventually relocating to Dryden, NY and becoming the Assistant Director of the Division of Animal Industry at the Diagnostic Laboratory of the College of Veterinary Medicine at Cornell. He served on the Board of Education of the Sherburne - Earlville Central Schools and was a Past President of the Hatch Lake/Bradley Brook Association. Frank was a member of the Holy Cross Church, Freeville as well as belonging to the United States Animal Health Association, the NYS Veterinary Medical Society; the American Veterinary Medical Association and the ALPHA PSI Fraternity.

Survivors include his wife of 59 years, Lorraine Drazek at home, his children, Mary (Robert) Cook of Earlville, Anne Drazek of Depoe Bay, OR, Evan (Theresa) Drazek of Xenia, OH and Beth (Tom) Pine of Ithaca; his brother, Tony (Jane) Drazek of Syracuse; his grandchildren, Dana (Scott) Krueger of Earlville, Justin (Tanda) Cook of Portland, OR, Lindsay and Daniel Pine of Ithaca and Kristina and Joseph Drazek of Xenia, OH; a great-granddaughter, Faith Drazek; nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his siblings, John, Stanley, Edward, Mary and Bernice Drazek.

A funeral mass will be offered at 1 PM Monday, Jan. 29, 2006 at Holy Cross Church, 375 George Road, Freeville with Rev. Scott Kubinski officiating. Burial, delayed until spring, will be in St. Joseph’s Cemetery, Hamilton, NY. Friends are invited to call from 11 Am to 12:30 PM Monday at the Perkins Funeral Home, 55 West Main St., Dryden, NY. Those wishing to remember Frank are asked to consider a memorial, in lieu of flowers, to the Dryden Ambulance Fund, P.O.
