FRANCIS O. STREETER , a loving and devoted husband, father, and grandfather, passed away on Sunday, April 15, 2007, at Cayuga Medical Center after a long and enjoyable life. He courageously accepted and continued to enjoy life after experiencing significant health problems over the years.

Fran was born on January 6, 1932 in Herkimer, NY, son of Orason and Marguerite DesRosiers Streeter. He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Mary Battisti Streeter, Dryden, NY; son, Brian (Sandy Roegnik), North East, PA; son, Kevin, Dryden, NY; son Paul (Ann Marie Reynolds), Freeville, NY; grandchildren, Jason, State College, PA, Amy, Erie, PA, Christopher, Freeville, NY, Patrick, Freeville, NY, Laura, Freeville, NY. Also, brother, Carl (Frances), Ilion, NY; sister, Linda Carter, Latham, NY; sister-in-law, Margaret Streeter, Herkimer, NY; brother-in-law, Frank (Charlotte) Battisti, Leveritt, MA; and many nieces and nephews. Francis was predeceased by his parents; a brother, Philip Streeter; and brother-in-law, Ralph Carter.

Francis was a graduate of Herkimer High School and the State University of New York at Albany where he received a bachelor's and master's degree. He also did post graduate studies at New York State College at Cortland earning an educational administration certificate. He served two years in the United States Army before starting his career in education. He taught at Liverpool High School, Homer High School, and TC3. He was an administrator at Cortland College, Director of Vocational Education at Cortland-Madison BOCES, and Director of Student Employment at George Junior Republic. While in education he was active in local, state, and national educational organizations, holding offices in all.

After retirement, Fran and Mary traveled to Italy, England, Scotland, Wales, Ireland, France, Alaska, Hawaii, Bermuda and throughout the continental United States. He enjoyed sharing his many travel stories with anyone who would listen. He was also a devoted fan and supporter of his children and grandchildren.

Fran was a longtime member of Holy Cross Church, Dryden Kiwanis, Dryden Senior Citizens, and Board of Directors of Willowbrook Manor. He served each of these organizations in officer roles for many years. He was an avid reader, sports fan and stamp collector. He especially enjoyed volunteering in the office at Hospicare Residence in Ithaca.

Calling hours are from 5-8 p.m. at Perkins Funeral Home in Dryden on Friday, April 20. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday, April 21, at Holy Cross Church, Freeville, NY, followed by burial at Calvary Cemetery, Ithaca, NY.

Memorials, in lieu of flowers, may be sent to the Hospicare and Palliative Care Services, 172 E. King Rd., Ithaca, NY 14850.
