FRANKLIN G. "FRANK" HOWSER,
age 89, of 427 Ringwood Road, Freeville, NY enter his eternal home peacefully Wednesday, April 5, 2006 at the Hospicare Residence. Frank was born May 29, 1916 at Dryden a son of the late Smith and Leona Edsall Howser. He was a life area resident having resided on Ringwood Road for the last 50 years. His wife, the former Mary McDaniels, passed away June 7th, 1993. Frank was a member of the Carpenter’s Union Local #603 and was employed as a carpenter by various local contractors. Frank and Mary were founding members of Holy Cross Church and was involved in the construction of the church buildings on George Rd. in 1969. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and trapping and was an avid gardener. He harvested logs and helped to mill them into lumber to construct the residence that he and his family enjoyed for many years.
Survivors include his children, Arthur Howser of Ithaca, Robert (Evelyn) Howser of Howells, NE, Glen (Lynda) Howser of Ithaca, Mary (Tom) Sanford of Freeville, Donna Piotti of Schenectady; twenty eight grandchildren; 50 great-grandchildren; 3 great great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews. He is also survived by his brothers, Lawrence Howser of Freeville, Edward (Millie) Howser of Morristown, TN.
A son, Franklin G. Howser, Jr., and two daughters, Gail Blaker and Linda Zimmer have predeceased their father as well as his sisters, Francis Cole, Gladys Bennett and a brother, Leslie Howser.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 9 Am Monday, April 10th at Holy Cross Church, 375 George Road, Freeville, NY. Burial will follow in Willow Glen Cemetery. Friends are invited to call from 7 to 9 PM Sunday at the Perkins Funeral Home, 55 West Main St., Dryden. All are invited to a reception at Holy Cross Church following the cemetery service. Memorials are graciously directed to Hospicare and Palliative Services, 172 East King Road, Ithaca, NY 14850 or to Holy Cross Church, 375 George Road, Freeville, NY 13068.
