FRANKLIN CHARLES KNOWLTON
, age 86, of 1216 Daisy Hollow Road, Dryden passed away Friday, Feb. 25, 2011 at his residence after an illness. Frank was born March 14, 1924 in Pompey Center, NY a son of the late Charles and Helen Hitchcock Knowlton. He served in the USArmy and was married to the former Syvia Updyke who survives. He was a member of the Leonard T. Spaulding Post 8158, American Legion. “Frank” was retired from Brewer-Titchener in Cortland where he was employed for many years as a set up man. Frank was a caring and thoughtful gentleman, a devoted husband and father who always put his family first. He enjoyed tending his vegetable garden, cutting firewood, camping, fishing and hunting. He made the most of every day and went peacefully to the Lord while surrounded by his family.
Survivors include his loving wife of 53 years, Sylvia at home, his children, Laurie Hathaway of Dryden, John (Pamela) Knowlton of Homer, Jacklyn (Howard) Havington of Dryden and Nancy Knowlton of Cortland; grandchildren, Brandon, Benjamin, Matthew and Ashley Hathaway, Ryan and Eric Havington, Hannah Wilson and Wyatt Knowlton; nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a brother, Donald and a sister, Josephine.
Funeral services will be held at 1 PM, Tuesday, March 1, 2011 at the Perkins Funeral Home with Rev. David H. Nicholls officiating. Delayed burial, with military honors, will be in Glenwood Cemetery, Homer, NY. Friends are invited to call from 12 to 1 PM Tuesday at the funeral home, 55 West Main St., Dryden, NY.
