Frederic E. Heliseva 85, 9/30/1938-8/12/2024, succumbed to a long illness while in the Cortland Guthrie hospital on Monday August 12th. He was born in the Tompkins County hospital located on East Hill. Fred retired from his career in auto parts as a salesman in1997. He was a traveling auto parts salesman in the Ithaca and surrounding areas for 41 years, starting with his first job with Ithaca Gear & Auto Parts Co in 1956. He worked for various auto parts stores in the Ithaca area until retiring from CARQUEST. While learning the auto parts trade he enlisted in the Army National Guard and was a reservist from 1958-1962. He also spent time working for the United States postal service as a postal carrier. Fred was an avid NASCAR fan and followed all the races. He also enjoyed baseball rooting for the Brooklyn Dodgers until their departure in 1958 and became a Mets fan after their inception in 1962. He enjoyed spending time with his family, and he will be deeply missed by all. He is survived by his sons Paul (Jo) and Jeff (Mary), his sisters Gail Osberg and Sharyn (Richard) Costello, 6 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren. He was predeceased by his wife Nancy, his brother Carlton and his parents Lois and Eugene Heliseva.
