GEORGE L. GOOD, PhD.,
age 67 died unexpectedly on Monday, Dec. 24 at his home in Dryden. Born Dec. 14, 1940 in Cincinnati, Ohio, he was predeceased by his father George Good; his mother, Florence Good-Sparrow and step-father, William Sparrow.

After completing his Bachelors degree at The Ohio State University, George made his way to Cornell University to further his education. He received his Masters and PhD. from Cornell and shortly thereafter started his lifelong career as a Cornell faculty member in the Department of Horticulture with the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences.

He received his Masters and PhD. from Cornell and shortly thereafter started his lifelong career as a Cornell faculty member in the Department of Horticulture with the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences. He was actively involved in teaching, advising students, conducting research and providing extension services, serving as department Chair and most recently as Professor Emeritus. He also served as Director of the Cornell Pesticide Management Education Program and was an active member of the New York State Arborists’ and Nurserymen’s Associations.
George loved spending time with family, living in the country, reading, learning about historic events, fishing, hunting, barbequing and baking his wonderful bread.
He is survived by his wife, Carolyn McFall Good at home; his son, Matthew (Elizabeth) Good of Avon Lake, Ohio; his daughter, Jennifer (Kevin) Harris of Etna, NY; grandchildren, Emily Good, Madeline and Katherine Harris; sisters-in-law, a brother-in-law and many nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be at 3 PM Saturday, Dec. 29th, 2007 at the Perkins Funeral Home with Rev. Alan Kinney officiating. Burial, delayed until spring, will be in Virgil Rural Cemetery, Virgil, NY. Friends are invited to call from 12 noon to 3 PM Saturday at the funeral home, 55 West Main St., Dryden. Those wishing to remember George are asked to make a memorial, in lieu of flowers, to the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences, 260 Roberts Hall, Cornell University, Ithaca, NY 14853.
