George David Gross

George David Gross, 83 of Dryden, NY passed away on Sunday, December 8 2024 at Cayuga Medical Center. David was a Veteran of the U.S. Navy serving on the U.S.S. Coral Sea from 1963 to 1969. David graduated from SUNY Oswego with a Masters in Industrial Arts in 1971, and wrote a photographic technical manual that was added to the college library.  He married Kathlene in 1969 in Dryden.  While living in Pennsylvania David worked as a teacher and operated a photography business. David returned to New York in 1983.  He retired from Transonic Systems in Ithaca NY after 32 years as an Engineering Associate and was one of the company's most senior employees. David was a member of the Presbyterian Church in Dryden where he sang in the choir, and served as Chair of the Washington Day Dinner for 20 years.  David joined the Boy Scouts of America in his youth and earned his Eagle Scout with Troop 24 in 1958 and then volunteered with the BSA for over 50 years, being awarded Silver Beaver among many other awards. He served as Scoutmaster, Order of the Arrow Chapter Advisor, Commissioner, Camp Staff member and as the President of the Camp Barton Alumni Association. He is survived by his wife Kathlene, his sister Karen Denison, Sons Kevin (Kate), Benjamin (Sara), David (Elizabeth), Daughter Gretchen (Andy Durand), Grandchildren Geoffrey, Rowan, Matilda, Miller, Christian, Alida Gross, and Eamon Durand and many nieces and nephews. Memorial Services will be 1:00 pm Jan. 11, 2025 at Dryden Presbyterian Church, 6 North St, Dryden, NY. Calling Hours will be from 4:00-6:00 pm Jan. 10, 2025 at Perkins Funeral Home, Dryden, NY. In lieu of flowers please make contributions to Dryden Presbyterian Church or The Camp Barton Staff Alumni Association.
