Geraldine A. Marquis

GERALDINE ANN MARQUIS , age 78, of Fall Creek Road, Freeville, NY passed away Thursday, Dec. 16, 2010 in Deland, FL after a ten month illness. Gerry was born in Geneva, NY on June 26, 1932, a daughter of the late Jabez and Ruth Lott Smith. On Dec. 30, 1953 she was married to Kermit Marquis in the Varna United Methodist Church. Gerry was retired from the NYS Holstein Association where she was an Administrative Aide and had previously been employed at National Cash Register and the NYS Grange.

Mr. and Mrs. Marquis owned and operated a 400 acre registered Holstein dairy farm in Freeville for 31 years and sold cattle to farms in 27 countries on five continents. Later they enjoyed raising Belgian Horses and hosted and participated in many draft horse events. Gerry was a member of the United Methodist Church of Freeville and a 55 year member of the Grange. Gerry was a loving, wife, mother, grandmother and sister who was a friend to all who knew her. She will be greatly missed.

Survivors include her loving husband of 57 years, Kerm, of Freeville; her sons, David (Renee) of Cortland and Keith of VanEtten; her daughters, Diane (Todd) TenKate of Freeville and KarenLee Marquis of Freeville; sisters, Mary Ellen Lane of Lansing and Ladema Brooks of Geneva; grandchildren, Chantel, Corey, Casey, Cyler, Adrienne (Steve), Chelsea, Gavin Colin Kayla, and Ashley; great-grandchildren, Zachary and Brooke; nieces and nephews and several brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law. Geraldine was predeceased by her parents and a sister, Jacqueline Wintermute.

A celebration of her life will be held at 11 AM, Wednesday, Dec. 22, 2010 at the Perkins Funeral Home. Burial, delayed until spring, will be in Willow Glen Cemetery, Dryden.
