Gladys I. Canfield

GLADYS I. CANFIELD , of O’Brien Hill Rd., Harford, NY entered into eternal rest with the Lord on Wednesday, June 28, 2006 at her residence after a lengthy and valiant battle with cancer. Mrs. Canfield was born June 18, 1936 at South Otselic, NY a daughter of the late Earl and Mabel Thornton Pittsley. Gladys was graduated from Cincinnatus High School in 1954 and has been a long time resident of Harford. She was married to Clare E. Canfield, Sr. who survives. She was a member of the Harford Fire Dept. Auxiliary and was a 4-H Club Leader and a member of the Summerhill Baptist Church. Gladys worked at Cortland Corset from 1954 to 2000.

Survivors include her husband, Clare E. Canfield, Sr. of Harford, her sons, Raymond (Dora) Canfield of Concord, NC and Larry (Jane) Canfield of Harford, her daughters, Susan Canfield of Florida and Regina Canfield of Cortland; a son-in-law, Gary Allen of Harford; her sisters, Ruth (William) Horner of Bliss, NY, Nancy Seamans of Tennessee, a brother, Lonnie (Linda) Pittsley of Cincinnatus, NY; nine grandchildren; twelve great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by a daughter, Evelyn Allen and a step-son, Clair E. Canfield, an infant daughter, Eugenia Canfield; her brothers, Earl, Jr., Walter, Edward, Rodney and Lloyd Pittsley and a granddaughter, Amber Canfield.

Funeral services will be held at 10 AM Saturday in the Perkins Funeral Home, with Rev. Lawrence E. Walter, Jr. officiating. Burial will follow in Highland Cemetery, Richford, NY. Friends are invited to call from 7 to 9 PM Friday at the funeral home, 55 West Main St., Dryden, NY. Memorials are graciously directed to the Harford Fire Dept. Auxiliary, P.O.
