Gloria J. Pidduck

Gloria Jean Pidduck, age 77, of 2682 NYS Rt. 79, Slaterville Springs, NY passed away Thursday, Dec. 31, 2009 at the Cayuga Medical Center after a lengthy illness. Gloria was born in Niagara Falls, Ontario, Canada on June 7, 1932, a daughter of the late Ernest and Frances Witt Ryan. She attended Kitchener Street School and Niagara Falls Collegiate Vocational Institute. On August 1, 1959 she was married to Howard Pidduck and resided in Guelph, Ontario until moving to the Ithaca area in August of 1961. Gloria and Howard have made their home in Slaterville Springs since1967. She was employed at Cornell University College of Agricultural Economics as an Administrative Aide from 1964 to 1987 and became a naturalized United States Citizen in March of 1973.

Gloria Jean was a member of the Caroline Center Church and was active in the Magnetic Springs Chapter #557, Order of the Eastern Star where she served as Worthy Matron and as Secretary for many years. Gloria was appointed to be Grand Warder for the Grand Chapter of the Order of the Eastern Star of New York State in 1972.

Survivors include her loving and devoted husband, Howard at home, her sisters, Lorraine H. Gillard, and Eileen R. Mashford both of Niagara Falls, a brother-in-law, Earl Sibbald of Wainfleet, Ontario as well as many nieces and nephews. Also surviving are many special friends, including the Joel and Gail Warren family, Jennifer and Jim Zimmer, Jackie Warren and Jamie and Bonnie Warren. She was predeceased by sisters, Jacqueline Mae Ryan, Thelma Ryan and Martha Sibbald.

Funeral services will be held at 2 PM Tuesday, Jan. 5, 2009 at the Perkins Funeral Home with Rev. Phil Jordan officiating. Burial, delayed until spring, will be in Willow Glen cemetery, Dryden. Friends are invited to call from 5 to 7 PM Monday at the funeral home, 55 West Main St., Dryden. Members of Magnetic Springs Chapter, OES will conduct services at 7 PM Monday at the funeral home.
