GRACE BROWN BURDA, age 76, of 440 NYS Rt. 13, Cortland, NY passed away, Tuesday, Jan. 10, 2012 at the Cortland Regional Medical Center after a lengthy illness. Grace was born at home on June 7, 1935 at the home of her late parents, George W. and Agnes Miller Brown. A life Cortland area resident, Grace was retired from Smith Corona. Grace enjoyed playing cards and bingo and watching her grandchildren. She was a communicant of St. Mary’s Church in Cortland.Survivors include her husband, Paul A. Burda; her children, Debora (Amos) Sturdevant of Whitney Point, Michael (Beth Unruh) Arnold of Locke, Paula M. Burda of Cortland, Andrea L. Burda of Palm Bay, FL, Barbara A. (Jason) Thayer of Cortland; a brother, George William (Kim) Brown of Astatula, FL; several grand and great-grandchildren; aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins, and her close friends, Joan Barrows and Nancy Rice-Wothe. She was predeceased by her brother and her step-mother and step-father.Services will be held at 12 PM, Sunday, January 22, 2012 at her son’s residence, 586 Champlin Road, Locke, NY.
