Grace Mary Allard Ellis

GRACE MARY ALLARD ELLIS, age 76, formerly of Dryden, NY and Mebane, NC died Sunday, May 16, 2004 at Wake Forest University, Baptist Hospital after several years of failing health. A native of Hallstead, PA, she lived for many years in Locke, NY. She was an active member of Greenway Baptist Church in Graham, NC, for 10 years and had previously been active in the Dryden Baptist Church and in the Milan Baptist Church of Locke. A woman of great faith and a cancer survivor for thirty-eight years, she was sometimes known as "Amazing Grace" by some close friends and family members.

Survivors include two daughters, Darlene G. Ellis of Berlin, PA and Teresa G. Congdon of Mebane; five sons, Gerald M. Ellis of Charlotte, NC, Donald D. Ellis of Trumansburg, NY, Robert J. Ellis of Jamesville, NY, Edward B. Ellis of Somerset, PA and Paul C. Ellis of Burlington, NC; fifteen grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death in January of this year by her husband, Gerald R. Ellis. This Thursday, May 20 would have been their 60th wedding anniversary. Also preceding her were her parents, Ferris Burlington Allard and Grace Whitney Allard, and a grandson, Robert Brian Ellis.

Funeral services will be at 2 PM Friday, May 21, 2004 at the Perkins Funeral Home, 55 West Main Street, Dryden, NY with Rev. Brian Humphrey’s of the Dryden Baptist Church officiating. Burial will follow in Willow Glen Cemetery, Dryden. The family will receive friends from 1 to 2 PM Friday at the funeral home. Memorials are graciously directed to the Dryden Baptist Church, P.O.
