WARD TILLOTSON, Jr. age 71, of 1176 Bleck Road, Marathon, NY passed away Sunday, Oct. 16, 2011 at Robert Packer Hospital after a short illness. “Wardie” was born August 19, 1940 in Cortland, a son of the late H. Ward Tillotson, Sr. and Cora Stevens Tillotson and was part of the Graduating Class of 1958 from Marathon High School. Wardie married Lois Davis on May 23, 1964 and shared his life with her for 47 years. They worked side by side on the family farm and successfully raised 5 children of whom he was eternally proud. His love of his family was never more evident than when he was with his grandchildren who gave him so much joy. He always said that children and grandchildren were what made the world go around and he loved each and every one with all his heart. Wardie was a fifth generation dairy farmer in Babcock Hollow who loved the land and was so pleased that his youngest son, Richard, was going to take over the farm and continue the family tradition. Wardie treasured his friends and there were very few people that he did not know. He had a special kindness that only comes along with the country way of life. He always had time to stop for a visit and was there to lend a hand when needed. He loved playing cards, going to auctions, attending horse and tractor pulls and Sunday breakfasts with his family. Every year he looked forward to the Labor Day Bonfire on the farm and this year, we know why it didn’t rain—So dad could enjoy it one more time.
