HAROLD D. COLLYER,
age 73, of Bradford St., Marathon, NY died August 8, 2006. Mr. Collyer was born October 24, 1932 in Smithville Flats, NY, a son of the late Edgar and Gertrude Denison Collyer. His wife, Shirley Wilber Collyer, died April 19, 1975. Harold served in the US Navy from 1954 to 1956 and was employed for many years as a union carpenter through Local 281 in Binghamton, NY. His union friends and co-workers will remember him as "Hammer" Collyer. Harold was always a jokester but was a generous person who was always ready to help those in need, he will be greatly missed.
Survivors include his sons, H. David (Bonnie) Collyer of Lisle and Gregory A. Collyer of Bakersfield, CA; his daughters, Terrie (Donald) Atwood of Marathon, Diane M. Collyer-Smith of Marathon, Mary K. (James) Jennison of Marathon and Julie A. (Brian "Sam") Clark of Glen Aubrey, NY; his sisters, Dorothy (Douglas) Fessenden of Sidney, Norine Dingman of Newark Valley and Anita Kilpatrick of Florida; fourteen grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews. In addition to his wife, he was predeceased by a grandson, Christopher Collyer and his brother, Robert Collyer.
Funeral services will be held at 12 Noon, Monday, August 14, 2006 at the Perkins Funeral Home with Rev. Elizabeth Groskoph officiating. Burial will follow in Green Hills Cemetery, Dryden. Friends are invited to call from 4 to 7 PM Sunday at the funeral home, 55 West Main St., Dryden. Memorials, in lieu of flowers, are directed to the Peck Memorial Library, Capital Improvement Fund, 28 East Main St., Marathon, NY 13803.
