Harry Zimmer

Harry Zimmer, 71 of Brooktondale NY passed away on June 1, 2023 at his home surrounded by his family after losing a hard fought battle with cancer.

Harry owned an excavation company serving Tompkins and surrounding counties for most of his life. His business was run with his nephew Bill Zimmer and grandson Dylan Zimmer. Harry spent much of his time dedicated to his business, often working long days and weekends. Harry had a love for collecting and restoring old cars. He also enjoyed going to car shows and drag racing, mostly to see people he knew and chat with them. Harry could always be counted on to be a good friend to anyone in need, lending a helping hand to almost anyone.

Harry is survived by his wife of 48 years, Gayle (Brown) Zimmer; daughters, Connie (Robert) Swansbrough and April Kelly (Eddie); grandchildren, Samantha Swansbrough, Dylan Zimmer, Alex (Alex) Reynolds, Cameron Kelly and a great grandson, Grant Reynolds. He also leaves behind brothers, Donnie and Kim and sisters Rhonda and Marie; many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his siblings, Bobby & Terry..

The family would like to thank Hospice and Roswell Park Hospital in Buffalo. Also, a special thank you to Dr. Bael’s office and staff for making hours of treatment more bearable.

Calling hours will be held on Tuesday, June 6th from 4-6pm at Perkins Funeral Home, Dryden. The burial will be private. A Celebration of life will be held on June 10th  from 3-5pm at the Dryden Veterans Memorial Home, 2272 Dryden Rd, Dryden, NY.  Online condolences can be left at www.perkinsfh.com
