Harvey Carver, Sr., age 89, a long time resident of Main Street Freeville, NY passed away April 10, 2011 at the Good Shepherd Hospice in Auburndale, Florida. He was born on January 8, 1922 in Washington, DC. Mr. Carver was proud to be a WW11 veteran who served on Guam. Harvey was predeceased by his loving wife of 70 years, Lena Genung Carver. Harvey was a man of great faith and an active member of the Freeville United Methodist Church. He was loyal to his friends and always ready to help in a time of need. Devoted to his family throughout the years, he provided wisdom, encouragement, direction and unconditional love. All who knew him loved his sense of humor. He will be greatly missed by family and friends.
He is survived by his sons, Harvey B. (Bonnie) Carver, Jr., of Winter Haven, FL, and Michael B. (Vivian) Carver of Spokane, WA; his daughter, Nancy J. Carver of Freeville; sisters-in-law Mildred Sherwood, and Jean Pearson of Freeville; six devoted grandchildren;15 great-grandchildren; 2 great great-grandchildren and cherished nieces and nephews and their spouses and children. He was predeceased by his parents and wife and a sister-in-law, Jane Dickinson.
A celebration of his life will be held at 11 AM Saturday, April 30 at the Freeville United Methodist Church. Burial, with military honors provided by members of the Dryden Veterans Memorial Home Ritual Team, will follow in Willow Glen Cemetery. Friends are invited call Friday from 7 to 9 PM at the Perkins Funeral Home, 55 West Main Street, Dryden. Memorials are directed to the United Methodist Church of Freeville, P.O.
