Horace Kenpatrick Clarke

Our beloved Patrick passed away on Tuesday, April 27, 2021, at home unexpectedly with his wife at his side at the age of 55.

Born Horace Kenpatrick Clarke, Jr., in Kingston, Jamaica, on April 2, 1966, Patrick was one of six children of Horace Kenpatrick Clarke, Sr., and Sybil Sylvia Clarke. As a youngster, Patrick enjoyed playing baseball, riding his bicycle, and watching hockey and basketball. As an avid fan of the Yankees baseball team and the Rangers hockey team, Patrick continued to love sports throughout adulthood.

In Jamaica, he attended Calabar All-Age School. After immigrating to the United States, he attended Our Lady of Mount Carmel in Mount Vernon, NY, Olinville Junior High School, and Evander Childs High School in Bronx, NY. His employment background included working as a Housekeeping Supervisor at Saint Vincent’s Hospital in New York City. For the past ten years, he worked at Cornell University. For more than twenty years he made Ithaca, NY his home and was known and loved by many in the community.

We will treasure the precious memories of our “Tricka,” our “Pattatops". He was funny, loving, and known not to be able to hold a grudge. It was so hard to stay upset with him; his love wore you down and caused any walls to crumble. Indeed, he was a loving person and never hesitated to show his affection and emotion. He was truly strong in that way; he was never afraid to convey vulnerability. It was this quality of openness that allowed him to connect with so many individuals.

Patrick leaves behind many family and friends who adored and loved him. He is survived by his loving wife Anita of 28 years, his parents, Horace and Sybil Clarke, his Mother-in-Law Constance Anderson, his siblings: Annmarie (Debbie), Dawnell, Eugene, Roxann, Nicole, and Junior, as well as his daughter Aisha, his son, Clifton, and a host of grandchildren: Jaslyn, Rodney, Royalty, Amari, Zarek, and Grayson, as well as many friends and loved ones.

We will never forget Patrick’s kindness and sincere love for his family and friends. He will be sorely missed. Rest in love and peace, our precious Patrick . .

Funeral services will be held at 2 pm, Wednesday, May 5, 2021 in Perkins Funeral Home, 55 W. Main St., Dryden, NY.  Friends may call from 1-2 pm prior to the service.
