HOWARD E. "Red" KANE,
87, of Loudon, TN and formerly of Ithaca, NY, passed away Monday, December 4, 2006 in Maryville, TN. Howard was born July 22, 1919 in Freeville, NY and was the son of the late Edward and Ina Sevy Kane. He was graduated from Dryden High School and in 1941 married Marie L. Miller. Red was employed with NYSEG for 40 years, retiring as an engineer in 1981. He was a past member of the Freeville United Methodist Church. Red was a friend to all and foe to none.
Mr. Kane is survived by his wife of 65 years, Marie L. Kane of Loudon, TN; his daughter, Norma J. (Richard) Reardon of Loudon, TN; his son, Tom M.
(Jeanne) Kane of Glenshaw, PA; grandchildren, Lynne M. (James) Damsma, Jeffrey C. Reardon, Amy E. (Jason) Clark, and J.R. Kane; great-grandchildren, Matthew J. Damsma, Mackenzie Clark, and Colin Clark; several cousins, in-laws and friends. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his brother, Donald Kane.
Funeral services will be held at 2 pm, Friday, December 8, 2006 at Perkins Funeral Home, 55 W. Main St., Dryden, NY with Rev. Dale Austin of the Freeville United Methodist Church officiating. Burial will follow at Willow Glen Cemetery, Dryden. Friends may call Friday from 12:30 pm until the service time at 2 pm. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Freeville United Methodist Church, P.O. Box 229, Freeville, NY 13068-0229.
