Howard W. Snyder

HOWARD W. SNYDER, age 63, of Mclean, NY passed away peacefully in his sleep on Saturday, May 19th while attending a work weekend at Raquette Lake, N Y.

Known to all as “Sandy” he was born June 17, 1948 in Sidney, N Y a son of the late Robert and Margaret Carpenter Snyder. Sandy was graduated from West Genesee High School and University of Buffalo and SUNY Cortland. Sandy was a member of the US Marine Reserves and on Dec. 18, 1971 he was married to the former Elizabeth H. Stevens.

His teaching career began in 1971 at Cincinnatus High School where he was a social studies teacher for 37 years retiring in 2008. Sandy was a member and a trustee of the McLean Community Church and was a director of the McLean Rural Cemetery. Active in many community efforts, Sandy will surely be missed by a community of loving people as well as his family.

Survivors include his wife of 41 years, Elizabeth at home, his children, John (Heather) Snyder of Richmond, VA, Abby (Joe) Canzano of Cortland, Joe (Chea) Snyder of Cortland; a brother, Robert (Karen) Snyder, Allentown, PA; a sister, Joanne Snyder of Camillus, NY; grandchildren, Katelyn, Audrey, Jack, Owen, Luca and Avery; nieces, nephews and cousins.

Friends are invited to call from 4 to 7 PM, Wednesday, May 23 at the Perkins Funeral Home, 55 West Main St., Dryden. Burial and memorial services will be private and at the convenience of the family.
