Irene C. Hollenbeck

IRENE C. HOLLENBECK, age 85, of NYS Rt. 392, Cortland (Town of Virgil) died Wednesday, January 5, 2005 at her residence surrounded by her loving family. Mrs. Hollenbeck was born March 14, 1919 at Battle Creek, Iowa a daughter of the late Burton and Freda Madsen Rowe. She was graduated from Waverly High School and on November 1, 1940 was married to Wesley R. Hollenbeck at Owego, NY. Mr. and Mrs. Hollenbeck have been long time residents of Virgil. She enjoyed card playing, china painting, doll making and spending time with family and friends.

Survivors include her husband of 64 years, Wesley R. Hollenbeck at home, her daughter, Darlene (Richard) Carpenter of Dryden and her son, Keith (Rose) Hollenbeck of Asheboro, NC; sisters, Nora Marian Copeland of Cortland, Doris Wood of Sayre, PA ; a brother, Burton E. Rowe, Jr, of Virgil; granddaughters Stacy (John Banewicz, Jr,) Whitney of Cortland, Veronica, Ashley and Darcy Hollenbeck of Asheboro, NC. Also surviving are her nieces and nephews who were all very special to her. She was predeceased by a brother and sister-in-law, Iver and Marie Rowe.

Funeral services will be held at 11 AM Saturday, January 8, 2005 at the Perkins Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Tioga Point Cemetery, Athens, PA. Friends and family are invited to call from 7 to 9 PM Friday evening at the funeral home, 55 West Main St., Dryden, NY.
