Ivan Marion, 95, of Bradenton, FL formerly of Ellenton, FL and Dryden, NY passed away at his residence on Friday, February 10, 2017.
Ivan was born on December 2, 1921 in Solon, NY to the late Lester and Nita Hall Marion. He served his country faithfully in United States Army during World War II with the 91st Armored Calvary Squadron in North Africa, Sicily and Italy. He was promoted to the rank of Sergeant and commanded a Tank on his own. Following his military service he worked as an Electrician in the Dryden, NY area. While living in Dryden he was a member of The First Presbyterian Church of Dryden, Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 8158 of Dryden, Leonard T. Spaulding Post 1134, American Legion and the IBEW Electrical Workers Union in Ithaca, NY.
Ivan and his beloved wife Eleanor would later on, after his retirement in 1986, become winter residents of Ellenton, FL. In 1992 the Marion's actually moved and became permanent residents of Ellenton until 2014 when he moved to the Westminster Shores Retirement Community in Bradenton, FL where he lived until his passing. In Florida he was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Bradenton.
He was predeceased by his beloved wife of 70 years, Eleanor in June of 2012, a son, James in February 2015; a brother, Willis Marion; a sister Irene DeOrsey and his son-in-law, Gil Rejman.
Ivan is survived by his loving daughter, Connie Rejman of Venice Center, NY; daughter in law, Cheryl Marion of Grahamsville, NY; two sisters, Lois Fox of Dryden, NY and Shirley Dickens of Venice, FL and Newfield, NY; a grandson; two granddaughters; one great grandson and many extended family members and friends in Florida and New York.
A service for Ivan will be held at 1 pm Saturday, May 13, 2017 at The First Presbyterian Church of Dryden with Rev. James Hicks officiating. He will be laid to rest next to his beloved wife at Willow Glen Cemetery, Dryden, NY at 3 pm. Military honors will be provided by the Dryden Veterans Memorial Home Ritual Team. The family requests that in lieu of flowers, memorials be made to the First Presbyterian Church, P.O. Box 42., Dryden, NY 13053 or First Presbyterian Church, 1402 Manatee Avenue West, Bradenton, FL 34205 in his memory.
