JAMES ELMER BROWN,
age 85, of Melody Lane, Newfield, NY passed away at his residence Wednesday, October 28, 2009. Born Nov. 20, 1923 in Brooktondale, he was a son of the late William H. and Ellen Ann Dickson Brown and lived most of his life in Caroline, NY. He was predeceased by his beloved wife, Clara who died in 1973. His father died when Jim was five years old in 1928. Also being known as "Elmer", he was a life member of the Slaterville Vol. Fire Company and enjoyed their barbeques. He had a passion for old cars, fishing and playing Domino’s. Also known to many family members and friends as "Si", he was a wonderful neighbor and a good son, having traveled to Florida with his mother for many years where he enjoyed taking friends and family "out to eat" and showing them the sights in Florida.
Survivors include his son, William Thomas (Bonnie) Brown of Newfield; his daughter, Sandra Jean (Barry) Delibero of Newfield; grandchildren, Katee (Eric) Murphy, Marty (Danielle) Fennimore; great-grand-daughter, Alyssa Fennimore; sisters, Doris Armstrong, Hattie (Robert) Lower and Connie (Roger) Turk; sisters-in-law, Elaine Genung and Mildred Klaver; nieces and nephews including his special nieces, Debbie (Ray) Kalwara and Margie (Jakob Ruebel, Jr.) Davis.
Funeral services will be held at 11 AM Saturday, Oct. 31 at the Perkins Funeral Home with Rev. Robert Clark officiating. Burial will follow in Caroline Grove Cemetery. Friends are invited to call from 10 to 11 AM Saturday at the funeral home, 55 West Main St., Dryden.
