MARATHON - James Patrick Connors, age 66, of 2745 Highland Road, Marathon, NY passed away unexpectedly at home on Thursday, February 12, 2009.

Born in Binghamton, NY he was the son of the late Geraldine Smith Connors. He was graduated from Binghamton High School and received his Associates Degree from Binghamton University. He served his country in the US Army during the Vietnam War. Jim was employed by NYSEG as an engineer, retiring in 1992. Following retirement from NYSEG, he started Northeast Water Structures, a portable dam building business that helped people remove water from flooded areas. He also was employed by the Town of Dryden Highway Department for five years. Jim was a member of Dryden Fire Dept. Jim loved to be outside, adored his horses and especially loved to be around people.

Jim is survived by his wife, Nancy Ellis Connors of Marathon, NY; daughters, Holly Connors of Raleigh, NC, Julie (David) Perrine of Cortland, NY; granddaughter, Kaitlyn Perrine of Cortland, NY; sister, JoAnn Powers of Henrietta, NY; brother, Edwin Smith; step son, Jason Bennison of Ithaca, NY step daughter, Lynne Park of Lebanon, ME; and step son, Avery Park of Denver, CO.

Funeral services will be held at 3:00 pm on Sunday, February 15, 2009 at the Perkins Funeral Home, 55 W. Main St., Dryden, NY with Rev. Archie Smith officiating. Friends may call from 1-3 prior to the service at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Cortland or Tompkins County SPCA.
