JAMES JOHN DAGRO,
age 77, of 21 Lake Road, Dryden, died unexpectedly on Friday, April 20, 2007 after becoming ill at home. Jim was born in April of 1930 in the Bronx, a son of the late Salvatore and Mary Dagro. He served his country honorably with the US Army in Korea and was awarded 2 Bronze Battle Stars and the Combat Infantryman’s Badge. He was a employee of the United State Postal Service for 30 years, retiring from the Ithaca, NY Post Office in 1989. On July 18, 1953 he was married to the former Frances Michalak in St. Catherine of Alexandria Church, Brooklyn. Mr and Mrs. Dagro moved to Dryden in 1967. Jim was a communicant of Holy Cross Church, Freeville. May he sing with the Angels praising God.
Survivors include his wife, Frances M. Dagro of Dryden, his son, Mark J. (Patricia Eyler) Dagro of Frederick, MD and his daughter, Karen A. (James) Lario of Charlottesville, VA; grandchildren, Hillary and Audrey Simons, James and Amy Dagro and Regina Lario; a great-granddaughter, Annamarie Morris; a sister, Ann Dagro of Groton; nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by two sisters, Mary Saulle and Nancy Palmigano.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 AM, Wednesday, April 25, 2007 in Holy Cross Church, 375 George Road, Freeville. Burial with military honors provided by members of the Dryden Veterans Memorial Home Ritual Team will follow in Willow Glen Cemetery, Dryden. There are no calling hours. Arrangements are entrusted to the Perkins Funeral Home. Memorials, in lieu of flowers, are directed to Holy Cross church, 375 George Road, Freeville, NY 13068.
