James W. Fenner

JAMES W. FENNER, age 78, of 35 W. Malloryville Rd., Freeville, NY passed away Tuesday, June 26, 2007 at the Groton Nursing Facility after a lengthy illness. Born in Dryden, he was a son of the late Daniel and Eva Warner Fenner. He was graduated from Dryden High School and served in the US Army as a paratrooper. Years ago he was employed by the Tompkins and the Cortland Co. Sheriff’s Dept. He was also employed for a time at the George Junior Republic. Jim enjoyed hunting, fishing and trapping and spending time with family and friends. He was life member of the DAV and a member of the Leonard T. Spaulding Post 1134, American Legion.

Survivors include his loving wife, Jane Wilbur Fenner at home, his children, Wayne Dwyer and Gary (Pam) Dwyer both of Carson City, NV, Ann Marie (Richard) VanOrder of Groton, Barbara (Norman) Crapo of Killawog, Clifton (Linda) Fenner of Cortland and Eva (John) Galbraith of Groton; step-daughters, Julie (Mark) Brown of McGraw and Suzanna (Dale) Carter of Cortland; a brother, Charles (Sandy) Fenner of Groton; sisters, Helen (Gerald) Westlund of Groton, Virginia (Bruce) VanOrder of Freeville and Sharon (William) Millick of Freeville; a sister-in-law, Ruth Fenner of Groton; twenty-one grandchildren; many great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a brother, Daniel and by a great-grandson, Ryan Ellerson.

Funeral services will be at 2 PM Monday, July 2, 2007 at the Perkins Funeral Home, Dryden. Burial with military honors provided by members of the Dryden Veterans Memorial Home Ritual Team will be in McLean Rural Cemetery. Friends are invited to call from 1 to 2 PM Monday at the funeral home, 55 West Main St., Dryden.
