JAMES C. HULSLANDER,
age 83, of James Street, Dryden passed away Monday, May 28, 2012 at the Cortland Regional Medical Center. “Jim” was born Jan. 1, 1929 in Dryden a son of the late Roy and Bernice Hutchings Hulslander.
A lifetime Dryden resident, he attended Dryden Schools and entered the US Army Air Force at age 16 serving in the Aleutian Islands during WW II. On May 6, 1967 he was married to the former Rosemary Hazen who survives. Jim was employed as a Union Carpenter and worked for many years for various building contractors including McGuire and Bennett. In retirement he was employed by the Town of Dryden and volunteered as a driver for the Dryden Ambulance. He enjoyed reading and following politics, hunting and fishing and had been a member of the Dryden Veterans Memorial Home. Jim was a gentleman who whole heartedly loved his family and friends and gave back to his family and the community through volunteering while asking for nothing in return.
Survivors include his loving wife of 45 years, Rosemary at home, his children, Judy Portzline of Dryden, Cindy Cole of Freeville, Jamie (Craig) Williams of Orlando, FL, Clinton (Edith) Hulslander of Deland, FL, Bonnie (James Baldwin) Hulslander; his brothers, Robert (Shirley) Hulslander of Freeville, David (Nancy) Hulslander of Harford; his sisters, Beverly Passalugo of Cortland, Arlene (Roger) Ward, Mary Williams, Freida Lucas of Groton; 13 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; nieces, nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by his brothers, Roy “Bud” Hulslander and Edward Uplinger.
Funeral services will be held at 10 AM, Friday, June 1, 2012 at The Perkins Funeral Home with Rev. David H. Nicholls officiating. Burial with Military Honors provided by members of the Dryden Veterans Memorial Home Ritual Team will be in Green Hills Cemetery, Dryden.
