James “Jim” R. Murdock, 79, of Cortland passed away at Cortland Regional Medical Center on October 12, 2018. He was born on March 9, 1939 in Oneonta, the son of the late Willard Russell and Julia Sigerson Murdock.
Jim graduated from Dryden High School. Following graduation he worked at Smith Corona in Groton. Soon after, he was drafted to serve his country in the US Army. After his service in the military, he found his way to California where he worked as a gifted sign painter. Following his time in California, Jim moved back to New York where he met his wife Sharon Redfield. He worked at Pall Trinity until his retirement. Jim enjoyed gardening in the sunshine and dancing to country music.
He is predeceased by his sisters; Dorothy Moore, Marguerite “Peg” Harvard, and Mary “Maimie” Tvaroha.
Jim is survived by the mother of his children Sharon Redfield Murdock, his children; Katrinka (Kris) Stamm of Wilmington, NC, Chad (Dana) Murdock of Cortland, Eric (Paige Steigman) Murdock of Woodland, WA, his brothers; Edward (Janey) Murdock of Groton, John (Kay) Murdock of Cortland, his brother in law Robert “Tank” Tvaroha Jr. of Groton, several grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, nephews and cousins.
