James Emery Tripp

James Emery Tripp ,age 75, passed away peacefully on January 22, 2024 with his family by his side.  He was born in Ithaca, NY on December 6, 1948 to the late Deloris Sharp Tripp and Carl Tripp.

Jim graduated from Ithaca High School in 1967 and served the United States Army from June 1968 through May 1970.  While bravely serving as an Infantryman in Vietnam he was awarded the Army Commendation Medal with “V” device for Heroism. As well as the Silver Star, two Bronze Stars and several other medals.

He was the owner and operator of Tripp’s Automotive Repair in Cortland NY from 1984 -2012 when he retired.

Jim met and married his wife of 53 years, Judy Hilker Tripp in 1970. Together they raised three children, Jerralynn Tripp Misco (Paul), Matthew Tripp and Melissa Tripp Warner and are grandparents to nine grandchildren and seven great grandchildren.

Calling hours will be held 11am until 1pm followed by a service at 1pm on Saturday, February 3, 2024  at Perkins Funeral Home, 55 West Main Street, Dryden, NY 13053.
