JEAN G. COLE,
age 83, of Chipman Corners Road, Groton, NY passed away Wednesday, July 14, 2010 at the Northwood Nursing and Rehabilitation Center at Cortland, NY. Mrs. Cole was born Sept. 3, 1926 in Hempstead, NY a daughter of the late William and Gertrude Merk Loson. She was raised in Hempstead, Smyrna, Oneida, Norwich and Sherburne where she was graduated from High School in 1944. Jean resided in Newfield and Brooktondale prior to moving to Groton. She was employed by GLF, Agway and retired from the College of Veterinary Medicine at Cornell University. Jean was married to Harold E. Cole who passed away in 1991. She was a member of The Home Bureau, the Brooktondale and Groton Senior Citizens and the Brad Paisley fan club. She enjoyed traveling, country music and was a wonderful mother and grandmother who will be greatly missed.
Survivors include her children, Gary Cole of Dryden, Sharon (Gary) Reynolds of Groton; her sister, Joan C. Miller of Freeville; seven grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren; two great great-grandchildren; nieces, nephews and cousins She was predeceased by a daughter, Linda Armstrong; sisters, Dorothy King and Eleanor Ash and her brother William H. Loson, Jr.
Funeral services will be held at 10 AM Monday, July 19, 2010 at the Perkins Funeral Home with Rev. Christopher Xenakis officiating. Burial will follow in Woodlawn Cemetery, Newfield. Friends are invited to call from 5 to 7 PM, Sunday at the funeral home, 55 West Main St., Dryden.
