Jeffrey Scott Dans, 61, beloved husband and father, died Friday, June 16, 2023 at Guthrie Cortland Medical Center after a long illness.
Jeff, the son of Geraldine Frady and Clayton Lamont Dans, Jr., was born August 29, 1961. He cherished his home and family. He is survived by his loving wife of 25 years Sherry (Lawyer) Ecker, his brother Stephen (Denise) Dans of the town of Dryden, a son Anthony Dans (and fiancé Emily) of Candor, a stepson Mark (Joyel) Ecker of Cortlandville, grandchildren Markie, Leah, Jack, and Blake. A stepdaughter Victoria Ecker (Chris) Muldoon of Ocala Florida, grandchildren Azlinn and Briar. A stepson Daryl (Arlene) Thaler of Cayuga, grandchildren Aja, Christian and Veronica. A niece Heather Dans of Groton, several aunts, uncles, and cousins. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his stepdaughter Victoria Muldoon.
Jeff grew up in Freeville and was a graduate of Dryden High School. He also received an AAS in Construction Technology from Tompkins Cortland Community College. He loved working with people and was well known for his sense of humor and storytelling abilities. He had a passion for trying new recipes and had many cookbooks for inspiration.
There are no calling hours. A memorial service will be held at the convenience of the family.
