Jennifer Lauren (Heath) Vorhis

May 25, 1980 – December 24, 2022

We are sad to announce the passing of Jennifer on December 24, 2022 in Montefiore Hospital after a courageous battle with lung disease while awaiting lung transplant surgery.

Jennifer was born on May 25, 1980 and was a graduate of Ithaca High School.  Jennifer devoted her life to her daughters and puppy dogs.  She had a smile that would light up any room and a heart so big that it would cover the world.  Family meant the world to her, and she was a loving mother, daughter, loyal friend, favorite Aunt, and adopted mom to so many.  She held on strongly to her beliefs and never ever turned down anyone who needed help.  She took in so many who had nowhere to go and made her home their home for as long as they needed.

Jen took great pride in caring for her father and grandparents when they needed her most and treasured that experience even through the most difficult times.

Jen leaves behind her two beautiful daughters Areanna (Avante) Vorhis and Kelyn (Isaiah) Vorhis, doggie daughters Isis and China, her mother Cathy (Marty) LaMorie, step sisters Nicole (Shane) Williams and Savannah (Cody) Williams, nephews Trevor Lehman and Riley Tallman, step nieces Trinity and Layla Hartwick, and Cailee White, her aunts Denise (Arve) Dyvik, Crista (Ed) Gee, and Heidi (Butch) Ruebel,  uncles Jake (Terry) Ruebel, Viktor (Kim) Ruebel, Daniel Heath, and Warren Frankel, step dad Bill LaMorie, Sr.,  step brother Bill LaMorie, Jr. and several cousins, Great Aunts, Great Uncles and countless friends.

Jen was pre-deceased by her sister Jessica Tallman, father Dennis Heath, grandparents Jakob & Irene Ruebel, and Alan & Dorothy Heath.

A sincere Thank You to all the doctors, nurses, aids, and assistants, and all those behind the scenes from Cayuga Medical Center and Montefiore Hospital who were part of Jennifer’s care during these past 3 months.  Some had become friends with Jennifer and we are so very grateful for your kindness and being there for her at times when family could not.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, January 14, 2023 at Perkins Funeral Home in Dryden, NY.  Calling hours will be from 11:00am to 12:00pm with the memorial service beginning at 12:00pm.
