Joan Beaudry Oltz, 17 George Street, Dryden passed away Friday April 6th at Cayuga Medical Center. Born March 28, 1929 in Cortland, NY she was the daughter of the late G. Fred and Ruth Dana Van Brocklin Beaudry. She was predeceased by her husband, Albert E. “Bus” Oltz, Jr. in 1998. Joan grew up in Homer and graduated from Homer Academy in 1946. She also attended Cazenovia College for Girls.

Joan and Bus both worked at and retired from Cornell University. She enjoyed listening and dancing to big band music which was a pastime of her generation. Later she enjoyed, golf, playing cards, having lunch with friends, visiting her niece, Ruth Teague and her family, in Geneva and keeping tabs on her extended families.

Survivors include her brother and his wife, Fred & Yvonne Beaudry of Owego; step-sister, Patricia Mills of Albany; sister-in law Barbara D. Beaudry of Homer and sister-in-law, Jeanne Stauffer Beaudry of Seattle, WA. She is also survived by her step-daughter, Linda Bell of Lake Wales, FL; a grandson, Abraham Joseph Bell; and nephews, Dick & Julie Heidt and Albert Heidt all of Dryden.

Joan was predeceased by her brothers, John (Suzanne), Charles (Virginia), Stephen Justin, and Peter Beaudry, and her older sister, Hester (Gordon) Preston. She is also survived by 8 nephews, 3 nieces, and their families.

Memorial service will be held at 1:00 PM, Saturday, June 9, 2012 at the Perkins Funeral Home with Rev. David Nicholls officiating. Burial will follow in Green Hills Cemetery, Dryden.
