Joanne Lee Yerke

OBITUARY RELEASE
JOANNE LEE YERKE, age 57, of Brook Drive, Cortland, NY passed away Sunday, May 29, 2016 at Hospicare in Ithaca. Joanne was born July 12, 1958 in West Chester, PA a daughter of the late Leo and Delores Cassebaum. A Cortland resident since 2014, Joanne was employed at the Cortland Health Center as a Medical Transcriptionist. Years ago, while living in New Jersey, she was a race horse groom until relocating to Cortland when she studied to be a Phlebotomist and became employed at Cortland Health Center.
Survivors include her daughter, Leann N. Yerke of Cortland; her sister and brother-in-law, Kathleen and William Lanigan of Dryden; nieces, nephews and cousins. She was predeceased by her brother, Eugene Yerke.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 10 AM, Friday, June 3, 2016 at Holy Cross Church, 375 George Road, Freeville. Burial will follow in St. Mary's Cemetery, Cortland. There are no calling hours. Those wishing to remember Joanne are asked to consider a memorial to Hospicare, 172 E. King Road, Ithaca, NY 14850. Perkins Funeral Home is assisting the family.
