Joseph Samuel Gregory Jr.

Joseph S. Gregory Jr., age 88 of Summerhill, NY passed away peacefully at home on Monday, February 21, 2023 with his wife of 65 years “sugar lump” by his side.

Originally from Mount Holly, NJ where he was born and raised, he graduated from Rancocas Valley Regional High School, class of 1953. On June 15, 1957 he married his high school sweetheart, Mary Andrews at Burlington, NJ who survives. He was Superintendent of Public Works in Mount Holly, NJ for many years prior to retirement. Following retirement, he and his wife, Mary moved to Summerhill, NY. He was an avid big game hunter in Maine and Canada all his life. He was an avid NASCAR fan and enjoyed going to the Daytona 500 for over 50 years and also to the Indianapolis 500 Speedway. Joe was a great storyteller who really had the gift of gab. Never one to not work, he was always busy with his landscaping and tree removal business. He enjoyed the buying and selling of real estate, buying his first piece of property, for his future farm in NJ, at age 16; where he always worked hard earning every dollar he ever had. Later in life he enjoyed his time with family on the farm in New York with his loving daughter, Joy and husband Dan Foster and his two grandsons, Cody and Zachary. He especially loved spending time with his four great grandchildren, Brooks, Vivianne, Lucille and Conner (baby Joey as named by Pop-Pop) who are the children of Cody and Justina Street of New York. He also enjoyed hearing about the adventures of grandson, Zach who travelled all over the world as a US Navy sailor for 10 years. Zach, now a Navy veteran, and his girlfriend, Taylor reside in Virginia. Joe also has a son, Michael and grandson, Michael Gregory both of Groton, NY.

At Joe’s request, services will be private at the convenience of the family.
