Kathryn Lucy Givens

KATHRYN LUCY GIVENS, age 94, formerly of Cortland, NY died Tuesday, August 14th, 2007 at Good Shepherd Fairview Home, Binghamton, NY. Mrs. Givens was born October 31, 1912 in Summerville, GA a daughter of the late Charles and Lucy Crities Newlon. She was raised in a family of thirteen children in Dryden, NY. On August 14th, 1929 she was married to Rev. Winston Lowell Givens at Avoca, NY. Mr. Givens passed away Jan. 8, 1998. She was retired from being a counselor at the Lansing School for Girls. Kathryn was a member of the Lapeer Christian Church.

Survivors include her daughters, Patricia (Robert) Robinson, Port Dickinson and their children, Charles (Donna) Robinson, Mark (Ellen) Robinson, Kathryn (David) Benninger and Shirley (Rev. Howard) Horton, Vestal, NY and their children; Deborah (David) Strope, Dianna Collingwood; a son, Robert (Vickie Marvin) Givens of Louisburg, NC and his children, Robert (Kelly) Givens, Heather (Jeff) Dann; a sister, Lucille Dummitt of Baldwinsville, NY; a daughter-in-law, Marilyn Givens Wagner; a sister-in-law, Audrey G. (Eugene) Doyle; grandchildren; twelve great-grandchildren; three great great-granddaughters; nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her six brothers and five sisters and a great great-granddaughter, Allana.

Funeral services will be held at 2 PM Friday, August 17, 2007 at the Perkins Funeral Home with her son-in-law, Rev. Howard Horton, officiating. Burial will be in Green Hills Cemetery, Dryden. Friends are invited to call from 1 to 2 PM Friday at the funeral home, 55 West Main St., Dryden, NY.
