KENNETH H. HOOVER, age 73, of Enfield Falls Road, Ithaca passed away Saturday, Nov. 24, 2012 at home after a long illness. “Ken” was born Sept. 1, 1939 in Varick, a son of the late John and Bertha Doane Hoover and had lived in West Dryden before moving to Enfield in 1981.

Ken served honorably (1958 to 1962) in the US Marine Corps. On July 28, 1968 he was married to the former Nancy Joyce Crockford. Ken studied at the Sterling Road Baptist Church in Hollywood, FL being ordained as a minister in 1979. He painted and delivered church buses around the country and became the Pastor at Snyder Hill Baptist Church and shortly thereafter moved from Freeville to Enfield where he founded and built the Agape Bible Church. Rev. Hoover was the Pastor at Agape for many years.

He received his Masters Degree from Empire College and worked with the Alcohol Recovery Program and the Homes Program in Ithaca as well as establishing a jail ministry. Ken and his wife also did family care in their home for the Willard and Elmira Psychiatric Centers. Ken and son, Randy, started H&H Auto which they operated for 20 years prior to starting Hoover’s Blacktopping which he worked at until his health prevented him from continuing in July of 2011.

Survivors include his loving and devoted wife, Nancy, at home, his sons, Randy Hoover, Keith (Linda) Millick, John Millick; step-daughter, Margaret (Dan) Swansborough; siblings, Illene Sill, Diane walker, Louie (Carol) Goyette, Ernest (Margaret) Hoover, Clifford Hoover, Marion (Carol) Hoover; grandchildren, Dan Swansborough, Jr., Janelle Swansborough, Matthew (Christina Ryan) Millick, Andrew and Timothy Hoover, Kyle Millick, Renee (John) Brehm; great-grandchildren, Daniel Swansborough, III, Christopher and Madison Millick, Michael Albrecht, Jr., Mathias and Lena Brehm; his mother-in-law, Beatrice Crockford; his brothers and sisters-in-law, Thomas (Teri) Crockford, Larry (Marilyn) Crockford, Janet Johnson and Marlene Crockford; many nieces, nephews, cousins and a host of wonderful friends. He was predeceased by his sons, Kenneth G. Hoover and Ronnie Hoover; his brother-in-law, Robert Crockford and his father-in-law,

Thomas Crockford.Friends are invited to greet Ken’s family at a public visitation on Tuesday, Nov. 27, 2012 from 4 to 7 PM at the Perkins Funeral Home, 55 West Main Street, Dryden, NY.
