Lavern Murdock Jr.

LaVERN MURDOCK, Jr., age 81 of 12 Yates Street, Freeville, NY died Saturday, July 16, 2005 at St. Joseph’s Hospital, Syracuse, NY. Mr. Murdock was born March 16, 1924 at Cooperstown, NY a son of the late LaVern and Bertha Hutchings Murdock Brown. A resident of Freeville since 1934 he was graduated from Dryden High School and served in the US Army with the 19th Armored Infantry Battalion. He was employed for many years at Freeville Lumber Co. and later at Dairy One in Ithaca, NY. He enjoyed motorcycling and was a life member of the American Motorcycle Club and a life member of the Triple B Hunting Club. He was a loving husband and father.

Survivors include his daughters, Cathy M. Murdock of Freeville and Marilyn M. (Raymond) Krebs of Ithaca; a sister-in-law, Betty Murdock of Canastota, NY; grandsons, Troy and Billy Krebs; nieces and nephews. He was also predeceased by his wife, Dorothy Moore Murdock, who died Oct. 9, 2004; his brother, George Murdock and his step father, Sylvester Brown.

Funeral services will be held at 2 PM Thursday, July 21, 2005 at the Perkins Funeral Home. Friends are invited to call from 1 to 2 PM Thursday at the funeral home, 55 West Main St., Dryden, NY. Following cremation, burial services will be held at 10 AM Friday in Willow Glen Cemetery, Dryden. Members of the Dryden Veterans Memorial Home Ritual Team will provide full military honors.
