LAWRENCE P. BARBER,
age 83, loving and devoted husband, father and grandfather passed away Friday, April 27, 2007 at the Cortland Regional Medical Center. Lawrence was born January 8, 1924 in DeRuyter, NY. He operated a Shell Gas Station in South Cortland for seven years and worked for the Village of Homer for thirty- two years. "Larry" enjoyed fishing, hunting, trapping and camping. He was a mechanic and owned stock cars.
Survivors include his wife of 63 years, Florence Leach Barber, two daughters, Judy (George Rogers) Vickery and Shirley (Joe Barr) Carpenter; a son, Lawrence "Buzz" (Nancy LeFever) Barber; seven grandchildren; eighteen great-grandchildren; nieces; nephews and friends. Larry was predeceased by his parents, Percy and Mildred Burt Barber and two brothers, Raymond and Donald.
Private services will be held in Glenwood Cemetery, Homer with Pastor Mark Lata officiating. Memorials in lieu of flowers may be made to the Alzheimer’s Assoc. Of CNY, 441 West Kirkpatrick St., Syracuse, NY 13204. Arrangements are entrusted to the Perkins Funeral Home, Dryden, NY.
