LAWRENCE SMITH HOWSER
, age 87, of 60 Cady Lane, Freeville, NY died Friday, May 4, 2007 at the Northwoods Nursing Facility, Moravia, NY after a long illness. Mr. Howser was born Jan. 3, 1920 at Caroline a son of the late Smith and Leona Edsall Howser. On June 28, 1941 he was married to Gertrude Abbey at Candor, NY. The Howser’s operated dairy farms in Dryden and Slaterville before moving to Cady Lane in 1972. Above all, his family was the most important part of his life, they were his loving care givers allowing him to be home until just recently.
Survivors include his sons, Ronald L. (Pudgie) Howser of Cortland, Greg N. Howser of Freeville; four daughters, Elaine A. (Pete) Elliott of Marathon, Jean P. Ingalls of Dryden, Doris B. (Stephen) Jones of Cortland and Marlene (Jack Seymour) LaBar of Dryden; a brother, Edward (Mildred) Howser of Morristown, TN; a brother-in-law, Kenneth (Doris) Abbey of Freeville; twenty grandchildren; thirty-two great-grandchildren; one great great-grandchild; aunts; uncles; nieces; nephews; cousins; He was predeceased by his loving wife of 59 years, Gertrude; a grandson Dennis C. Ingalls; brothers, Franklin and Leslie Howser; sisters, Gladys Bennett and Frances Cole.
Funeral services will be at 11 AM Tuesday, May 8th, 2007 at the Perkins Funeral Home with Rev. Allan J. Ferguson officiating. Burial will be in Willow Glen Cemetery, Dryden. Friends are invited to call from 7 to 9 PM Monday at the funeral home, 55 West Main St., Dryden. Memorials are graciously directed to the American Arthritis Foundation, 5858 E.
