Lawrence J. Shufelt

LAWRENCE J. SHUFELT, age 73, of 755 Irish Settlement Road, Freeville, NY died Wednesday, June 22, 2005 at his residence. Mr. Shufelt was born February 13, 1932 a son of the late Julian and Cornelia A. Schuck Shufelt. "Larry" was graduated from Groton High School and played on the 1949-1950 High School Championship Basketball team. Years ago he was employed at Smith Corona for 34 years and at the Tompkins County Library. Currently he was employed at Tompkins Cortland Community College with 20 years experience. A long time area resident, Larry was a member of the War Dads in Groton. He loved working at TC3, was a avid golfer and a hard working man who was proud of his family. He enjoyed spending a quiet evening at home with his family.

Survivors include his wife of 40 years, June Terwilliger Shufelt of Freeville, his children, Michael Shufelt of Lake Dallas, TX, Theresa (John) Potter of Montezuma, NY, Debra Cox of Oklahoma City, OK, Barbara Shufelt of Ponder, TX, Larry (Jill) Shufelt, Jr. of Dryden; his siblings, Frances (Dale) Couch of Oklahoma, Julian L. (Helen) Shufelt of Era, TX and Mary Lou Shufelt of Everett, WA; Phyllis (Kris) Sims of Groton; five grandchildren and one great-granddaughter; aunts; uncles; nieces; nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by a sister, Elizabeth "Betty’ Roscioli.

Private services will be held at the convenience of the family in Willow Glen Cemetery, Dryden. There are no calling hours. Friends are asked to consider a memorial to the Dryden Fire Dept., P.O.
