LEAH E. MONROE,
age 91, of 1028 Ellis Hollow Road Apts., died Tuesday, May 8, 2007 at the Hospicare Residence in Ithaca, NY. Mrs. Monroe was born Jan. 16, 1916 at Apalachin, NY a daughter of the late Arzy and Bernice Inman Emery. She was a long time resident of Buffalo Hill Road prior to relocating to Ellis Hollow Apts. Her husband, Charles Monroe, passed away in 1973. Leah attended the Varna United Methodist Church and was retired from Morse Chain where she had been employed for 35 years.
Survivors include her son, Edward (Martha) Monroe of Brooktondale and her daughter, Violet Shepardson of Owego; her sisters, Anna Laurenson and Erma (Albert) Inman; many grandchildren; two brothers-in-law, Duane Armstrong and William G. Hines; nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her brother, Louis Emery; sisters, Mina Storm, Murle Armstrong and Alice Hines; her mother; her father; and her step-father, Robert Curtis.
Funeral services will be at 11 AM Thursday, May 10, 2007 at the Perkins Funeral Home with Rev. David H. Nicholls officiating. Burial will follow in Charles Mulks Cemetery, Slaterville. Friends are invited to call from 10 to 11 AM Thursday at the funeral home, 55 West Main St., Dryden, NY. Memorials, in lieu of flowers, are directed to Hospicare, 172 E. King Rd., Ithaca, NY 14850.
