LEO E. SHAW,
age 66, of Freeville, NY died Thursday, March 3, 2005 at the Cortland Memorial Hospital, Cortland, NY. Leo was born in Peruville, NY on April 26, 1938 a son of the late Bert and Mable Edsell Shaw. He was graduated from Romulus High School prior to serving in the US Army from 1957 to 1960 where he was assigned to the Nike Hercules Missile Defense Program. He worked locally at the TST Boces as a Audio Visual Technician until retiring after more than 20 years service. He was a Past Chief and Life Member of the W.B. Strong Vol. Fire Co. in Freeville, a member of the Leonard T. Spaulding Post 1134, American Legion and was active with the Dryden Veterans Memorial Home Ritual Team. Leo enjoyed reading, cooking, camping, trains, woodworking and SU Basketball.
Leo is survived by his wife of 40 years, Nancy J. Hards Shaw at home, a son, Leo E. Shaw, II and his wife, Carole Habalou Shaw of Apex, NC; an older brother, Arthur Shaw; two sisters, Dorothy Mowry and Betty Tesriero; three grandchildren, Carrie Robertson, Drew Shaw and Cody Shaw; nieces; nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by a sister, Mabel Sickmon
Memorial services will be held at 7 PM on Monday March 7, at the Reach out for Christ Church, Johnson Road, Freeville, NY with Rev. Peter Hopper officiating. Burial will be private and at the convenience of the family. Members of the Dryden Veterans Memorial Home Ritual Team will honor Leo at the church. Memorials, in lieu of flowers, are directed to the Dryden Veterans Memorial Home Ritual Team, 2272 Dryden Road, Dryden, NY 13053 or to the American Cancer Society, 31 Adams Ave., Endicott, NY 13760. Arrangements are entrusted to the Perkins Funeral Home, 55 West Main St., Dryden, NY.
