Leonard John Kimmich, 83, of Tavares, FL and formerly of Babcock Hollow, Marathon, NY passed away peacefully at home on February 28, 2021. Mr. Kimmich was born on October 13, 1937 in Harford, NY and was predeceased by his parents, John & Evelyn Kimmich. Leonard is survived by his loving wife Elizabeth and children Jeanne Roberts (Raymond), Aaron Kimmich (Christina), Janice Dean (Bill), and Joan Stevens (Bob); eight grandchildren: Nicole Roberts; Richard Kimmich (Elena), Rebecca Gasche (Sydney); Kristofer Dean (Kelly), Meghan McDuffie (James), Jaime Hayden (Andrew); Angela Stevens, Michael Stevens. Five great grandchildren: Carter & Camryn Gasche; Emery & Kohen Dean; Colton McDuffie. He is also survived by his brother George Kimmich (Kristin) and nieces Lisa Philippone (Andrew) and Kathy Phillips (Clay).

He graduated from Marathon High School in 1956. He married Elizabeth on April 27, 1957. Leonard operated a dairy farm for nearly 45 years. He began Hay Creek Antiques in 2002 and did antique shows until 2017. His biggest love was his wife and family followed by kitties and cows. He loved being outdoors and enjoyed fellowships, hunting, bowling, and playing golf. He was active in church, was a lay speaker and held many church positions through the years. He belonged to Adventure Christian Church in Tavares, FL and previously Countryside Chapel in Itaska, NY. He belonged to the Holstein Dairy Association, held positions with the Cortland County Extension Service, and had been an assessor & supervisor for the Town of Harford, NY. In 1971, he was awarded First Place New York State Outstanding Young Farmer of the Year, sponsored by the US Jaycees & Chevrolet trucks.

Funeral plans will be made by the family for late April. In lieu of flowers, friends are urged to make a donation in his memory to St Jude’s Research hospital, Shriner’s hospital or to a charity of their choice. www.perkinsfuneralhome.com

Funeral services will be held at 1 pm Saturday, April 24, 2021 at Perkins Funeral Home, 55 W. Main St., Dryden, NY. Private burial will follow in Virgil Rural Cemetery, Virgil, NY.
