LEVI J. LOCKE
, age 80, of 590 NYS Rt. 79, Richford, NY passed away Saturday, Nov. 24th at home. Levi was born Oct. 8, 1932 in So. Otselic, NY.
He served in the US Navy from 1951 to 1961. Levi retired from being a groundskeeper at The Tompkins Community Hospital. He was a long time area resident and had lived in Lodi, NY and in California previously. He delivered for The Ithaca Journal for many years and was a member of the Caroline Valley Horseshoe League and the Rubin Everidge Fan Club. He enjoyed square dancing to Doc Weismore and the Ridge Road Ramblers (now Real Country).
Survivors include his companion of 31 years, Beatrice Covert; sons, Charles, Levi, Jr., John, Nelson and Curtis; his daughter, Sylvia; siblings, Ruth Cheesebro, Evelyn Locke, Clara Horton and Alvin Locke; many stepchildren, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by a daughter, Phyllis.
Memorial services will be held at 11 AM, Saturday, Dec. 1, 2012 at the Perkins Funeral Home with Rev. James Willard officiating. Burial will be private. Friends are invited to call from 10 to 11 AM, Saturday at the funeral home, 55 West Main St., Dryden, NY. Memorials, in lieu of flowers, are directed to the Dryden Veterans Memorial Home, 2272 Dryden Road, Dryden, NY 13053 or to the Berkshire Rescue Squad, Rt. 38, Berkshire, NY 13736.
