LEWIS H. BARBER age 86, of 296 Lafayette Road, Cortland, NY died Wednesday, January 2, 2008 at his residence after a lengthy illness. Lewis was born Feb. 3, 1921 at Scott, NY a son of the late Harley and Hattie Maycomber. He was graduated from Scott High School and entered the US Army in 1942. He served in the Quartermaster Corps in the Philippines and was honorably discharged in 1946. On May 23, 1944 he was married to the former Wilma Converse who survives. Lewis was employed at Brewer-Titchner, Ryerson Motors, Smith Corona and retired from SUNY Cortland where he was a buyer in the Physical Plant Department. He was a Member, Deacon and Trustee of the McLean Community Church. Lewie coached Little League and Babe Ruth Baseball and was an avid NY Yankee Baseball fan and sang in the Crown City Chorus. Lewis was an avid gardener, and in later years he

enjoyed bowling with his many wonderful friends.

Survivors include his loving wife of nearly 64 years, Wilma C. Barber at home, his daughters, Linda (Tom) Terry of Harford and Tamara (Patrick) Lomber of Freeville; his son, David (Denise) Barber of Brewerton, NY; grandchildren, Ryan and Trevor Lomber, Tara Slack and Andrew Barber; nieces, nephews; six step-grandchildren, Amy Finne, Audrey Griswold, Andrea Ayres, Abby Decker, Nicole Formica and Danielle Formica and nine step great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by his brothers, Charles and Fay; his sisters, Charlotte Shultes and Eunice Kincaid and a half-sister, Vivian Churchill.

Memorial services will be at 1 PM Sunday, Jan 6, 2008 at the McLean Community Church with Rev. Leslie A. Smith officiating. Burial, in McLean Cemetery, will be delayed until spring. Friends are invited to call from 2 to 4 PM Saturday, Jan. 5, 2008 at the Perkins Funeral Home, 55 West Main St., Dryden, NY.
